Students with special educational needs and disabilities, from year 7 through to year 13, are supported by a range of teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral leaders. Quality First teaching is imperative to our approach to teaching students with SEND and the majority of support is able to be delivered at a classroom level. We are an inclusive academy and it is our aim, where possible, for students with SEND needs are fully integrated into academy life. Where a student needs more intensive support, they benefit from accessing our inclusion centre, The Hub. Students can access a variety of programmes from both internal and external agencies. This may include literacy and numeracy programmes, transition support, anger management and social skills interventions (this list is not exhaustive).

The academy caters for students with needs in areas of cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social, emotional and mental health and sensory and physical, and for those with medical needs. It is important to us that all students are supported to make progress and aspire to achieve. Our teachers will use a range of strategies to make reasonable adjustments to enable access to the curriculum provision; using a variety of teaching styles, small group teaching, practical learning, mentoring by other students/peer support and use of appropriate resources for the students in their class.
