I am writing to inform you of some proposed changes to the structure of the academy day here at Ormiston NEW Academy.
In March 2022 the government published a white paper called ‘Opportunity for all: strong schools with great teachers for your child’. This document set out an expectation that all state-funded mainstream schools will deliver a minimum school week of 32 hours and 30 minutes by September 2023.
To meet this requirement, we are proposing the following changes to our academy day:
|From September 2023
|Monday 8.40am – 4.05pm
|Monday 8.35am – 4.05pm
|Tuesday – Thursday 8.40am – 3.05pm
|Tuesday – Thursday 8.35am – 3.20pm
|Friday 8.40am – 1.15pm
|Friday 8.35am – 1.20pm
We will now enter a 4-week period of consultation on these proposed changes. I invite all families to give your feedback either via email ([email protected]) or in person by 1st June 2023. There will be a family coffee morning on Saturday 13th May in the sixth form building from 10.00 – 11.00am where you can pop along to discuss these changes, or indeed any other feedback you may have about the academy. Please can I request that you let us know if you would like to attend this event by phone or email so that adequate refreshments can be provided.
Once the consultation period is complete I will write to you again with final confirmation of the arrangements and our plans for the start of the academic year 2023-24.
