Wolverhampton Casuals FC (ONEWA) Academy will suit you if you want flexibility in the type of course you choose to study – for example you could train in BTEC Sport, Media, ICT, Art and Design or A Levels. This academy is open to 16-19 year old males and females.

As a member Wolverhampton Casuals Football Academy, you will receive professional coaching by experienced UEFA A and B licensed coaches. You’ll take part in three practical coaching sessions a week (10 hours in total) to fit around your timetable, as well as having the chance to play regular competitive fixtures in the British Colleges Sport (BCS) West Midlands regional leagues and cup competitions.

All players will have access to the NEW Academies Coach Education Program through provision of the FA Level 1, refereeing qualifications and coaching workshops.

Our link with Wolverhampton University further reinforces our academy commitment to tie into the expertise that they have developed an excellent reputation for the quality and innovation in the application of sports science and international developments in the football industry. Your academic study programme will consist of selected subjects linked to your chosen career path. These subjects can have an academic or vocational focus and are available through the ONEWA Partnership Prospectus.

The level of the course will be chosen in consultation with your tutors, depending on your GCSE performance. Our Football Academy caters for various programmes including opportunities to enhance your employment potential, such as The FA National Governing Body coaching qualifications. Support will also be available for individuals who wish to apply for positions at University and Apprenticeships.

Students are appointed on a competitive football trial will also demonstrate that they have the academic requirements to be successful. You will need to demonstrate your technical, tactical, social and physical skills. Fitness, attitude, motivation and commitment are paramount if you are to succeed in sport.

Football Academy applicants are expected to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above Including, English and Maths in order to be accepted onto the course.

You will undertake a combination of morning and afternoon sessions across the week, all delivered by highly qualified and professional UEFA A + B level coaches.

The academy will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to either continue with your sporting career, progress through Further and Higher Education courses or gain employment in such fields as:

  • Football Coaching, Sports Administration, Fitness and Leisure Industry, Sports Management and Teaching.
  • Be committed and enthusiastic to both academic and practical aspects
  • Be prepared to attend every session
  • Undertake coursework and homework
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle
