Arcadia Resource Base – Speech, Language and Communication Needs
Arcadia Resource Base – Speech, Language and Communication Needs
The resource base is a purpose-built space situated in the main body of the school. This space consists of learning spaces, a sensory integration space, a sensory room and a quiet intervention space. The curriculum in the resource base follows that of the mainstream school. However, the curriculum is adapted to suit the needs and levels of the young people in the base. This includes a preparation for adult curriculum and a fortnightly Forest School Session.
Places in the resource base are allocated by the local authority, and all students must have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) with the primary area of need in Communication and Interaction, or this as a significant area of need. Each class will have 8-10 places. We currently have two Key Stage 3 classes.
There are plans for this to expand with a Key Stage 4 provision in the future.
